The Christmas trees are fresh from Oregon and a brand new shipment arrives weekly. The trees are guaranteed fresh and smell wonderful. Buckelew Farm Christmas tree lots are family owned and operated. Buying from small family businesses help keep the economy in Tucson and Phoenix strong. Supporting local businesses keeps money in the local economy. The Tucson Citizen recently reported (November 2012), for every dollar that is spent at a local store, 68% of that goes to the local community through taxes and payroll. Clint and his family live locally in Tucson, grow our crops here, hire employees locally and keep money in the local economy. Buckelew Farm supports Northwest Fire Department and The Tucson Conquistadores' charities and part of proceeds supports these charities. Northwest Fire Department will be holding their annual holiday toy drives at the Buckelew’s tree lot!
4 Types of trees:
Nordmann Fir (Abies nordmanniana) is a new type of Christmas tree in America but has been the most popular tree in Europe for many years. Nordmann Fir have beautiful soft shiny needles with a deep green color laid out in even rows on the twig. They are very durable so they last exceptionally well, usually keeping well into January. Because the branches are evenly spaced and very strong, they are perfect for showing off special large or heavy Christmas ornaments.
Noble Fir (Abies procera) is simply the best Christmas tree grown anywhere in the world! With a beautiful, almost spruce like appearance, Noble Fir has soft blue-green needles on evenly spaced strong branches perfect for heavy ornaments. They keep really well and have a very pleasant mild fir scent. Noble Fir comes in a variety of styles and they present the ornaments and Christmas lights in a very natural way.
Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) has been the major Christmas tree species from Oregon since the 1920's, when most Christmas trees came from the forest. Douglas fir are liked for their dense bushy shape and fine soft green needles. They have a distinctive pine-like scent, and that fragrance seems to last through the entire Christmas season. Easily decorated, Douglas fir is able to support a large number of Christmas tree lights if you really like to light it up!
Grand Fir (Abies grandis) is a Christmas tree that does live up to its name. With their dark green color and shiny appearance, Grand Fir needles have a silvery underside of stomatal bloom that reflects the Christmas tree lights for a beautiful effect. The needles are arranged in a flat array on the twigs in a way that gives a very graceful appearance to the tree. It has a powerful citrus-like evergreen aroma and is, by far, the most fragrant Christmas tree. Because it is giving up so much of its moisture as it releases that fragrance, Grand Fir do not last as long as other types. To insure you have a fresh Christmas tree for the holiday, the Grand Fir will be delivered in a second load of trees around the Dec 8th.
About Our Trees
We use a small farm in Oregon and we are their largest client. One advantage of working with a small farm is that we are able to pick out the best quality of trees for our customers. Another advantage of working with a smaller farm is that when the trees are cut they are loaded on the truck and come to us the next day. This differs from the large box store suppliers who cut hundreds of thousands of trees to supply their chains. The big box store farms start cutting trees in October and storing them so the trucks can start hauling all over the country. This means you could get a tree from a box store that was cut over a month ago versus our trees that are cut the day before they get loaded. For this reason, we can guarantee the trees throughout the holiday season and ensure our customers have the best quality there is to offer.
We also sell:
- Fresh Wreaths
- Fire Wood (by the wheel barrel)
- Tree Stands
- Hatch Chile Strings
